More About
The Season of Advent

We are now in the Season of Advent, the beginning of the new Christian Church year. With Advent midweek and Sunday services, we are preparing ourselves for the Christmas remembrance of the birth of the Savior of the world, Jesus Christ. The word "Advent" means "coming."

For the Sundays of Advent, we will be looking at God the Father's preparation of people before the birth of Jesus: The Angel Gabriel with Zechariah, Mary and Elizabeth, the birth of John bar Zachariah (the Baptist), and finally the Angel Gabriel with Mary.

Advent midweek worship will be held on the Wednesday evenings of December 5th, 12th, and 19th at 7:00 PM. A soup dinner will be served each Wednesday, starting at 6:00pm.

Join us: All community residents and visitors are invited to join us for worship and fellowship, as we strengthen our relationship with God through His Son, Jesus Christ.

Listen to Pastor Cain's weekly radio broadcast on KKHT via smartphone or computer. Click on the button that says "Listen Live" on . This broadcast is both FM and Internet radio Sunday nights, 7:00 pm, with an older show rebroadcast at 7:30 pm. The 7pm show airs again Saturday morning at 10 AM. Closer to Houston, you can pick up KKHT on the air at 100.7 FM. KKHT is one of Houston's Christian radio stations. Podcasts, downloadable files of past shows are available on his "Evangelical Life Ministries" website: You can also tune in early at 6:30 to catch The Lutheran Hour.

Lutheran Student Fellowship: LSF is going strong at Redeemer! LSF is the national organization of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod for college students. Moving away from home does not mean one should move away from a relationship with the Lord, or from companionship with other Christian students. Make contact at church, or on Facebook at the LSF Stephen F. Austin State University link.

Newsletter submissions: Reminder - Please submit your articles for the newsletter to the church secretary by the 15th day of the month prior to the month that you want your article to appear.

Newsletter distribution: To cut down on the cost of mailing the monthly newsletter, members will now receive their copy of the newsletter via e-mail. Please check with the church secretary if you do not receive a copy in your electronic mail box to ensure that the church is using your most current e-mail address. Also let the secretary know if you want to continue receiving the newsletter by "snail mail." Note: you may also read the newsletter by clicking on the "INFORMATION" link in the above menu of this webpage, and then scroll down to "Newsletter." This will allow you to read the newsletter on-line in PDF format, and to print your own copy. You must use the free Adobe Acrobat Reader downloadable "HERE."

The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod's disaster response ministry responds to immediate and long-term needs following natural and man-made disasters, working through LCMS districts and congregations, international Lutheran churches and other partners. LCMS World Relief and Human Care, through LCMS Disaster Response, is coordinating with Texas District Disaster Response to launch a significant and sustained relief effort in response to Hurricane Harvey. LCMS Disaster Response teams will deploy as soon as emergency officials allow them to enter the disaster zone. More than 160 LCMS congregations are in the affected areas, and you can help with relief and mercy efforts. DONATE NOW to the LCMS emergency relief efforts.

English classes for internationals are being taught on Thursday evenings from 6:30 to 8:45. Registration for new students is twice each year during January and September.
